As the filter element fills in hydraulic filters, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter increases. Therefore, the filled filter is determined using pressure switches that measure the differential pressure difference. Thus, the differential pressure switch or manometer creates an electrical or optical signal, indicating to the operator that the filter element needs to be changed.
